Our Short length pens come with a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 ink refill. If you would like to use a Pilot G2 (default in our Standard and Mini lengths), you will need to trim off about 2mm from the top of the refill to match the exact length of the Schmidt, including the reinsertion of the G2 black end cap.
Step 1
Measure and compare the G2 to the EasyFlow 9000 to understand how much needs to be trimmed. Like carpenters say: measure twice and cut once!
Step 2
Trim off ~2mm from the clear plastic tube of the Pilot G2 refill. This works best with a sharp X-ACTO or pocket knife (see: Tactile Knife Co.). Important: you will replace the G2 refill cap and include that in your total measurement.
Step 3
Remove the black cap from the trimmed G2 end piece and install it back onto the Pilot G2 ink cartridge. If needed, scoop out a bit of the gel goop with a toothpick to make the cap fit more easily.
Step 4
The trimmed Pilot G2 cartridge should now fit inside the pen but, since the diameter of the G2 ink tip is different, you will require a Spring for Standard and Mini Sizes which can be ordered from our store.
