How to open a Bolt Action pen for cleaning – Tactile Support

Good afternoon, I have been having my titanium bolt action pen for 2 years now and it has been great. The other day I dropped it and the ink cartridge inside chipped from the top and started leaking ink by the bolt action mechanism. Is there a way to remove the top part of the pen in order to clean the inside? Or is there a best way to be able to clean all the ink off the pen? Thank you, Angel

Whether it's a busted ink refill like Angel or mustard from lunch, accidents happen and you might need to clean your Bolt Action mechanism. We recommend disassembling the bolt / bolt carrier using smooth jaw, parallel pliers to loosen and remove the bolt.

Important: When removing the bolt make sure the pliers grab ONLY onto the bolt and are raised so as to not touch or damage the pen body. It is VERY easy to scratch the pen when removing / installing a bolt. Here are the smooth jaw, parallel Knipex pliers we use for reference:

Once the bolt is off the internal bolt carrier will be able to be removed for cleaning. We don't recommend removing the back piece that secures the clip in place so leave that installed.

Now that the pen is disassembled, wash the parts with warm water and dish soap and dry it off with a cloth towel. Before putting the pen back together make sure all the parts are completely dry (we recommend using a blow dryer).
