In short: because we switched to UPS and still need to work out some kinks.
For years we dealt with never-ending shipping problems courtesy of USPS. While the prices were generally cheaper, their tracking system flat out does not work for international orders and oftentimes domestic shipments were hit or miss.
In September 2022 we switched all of our shipments to UPS and, for the added cost, they've shown to be a much more reliable system on the whole which is certainly better but not perfect.
It's a work in progress...
Known issues include stupidly high prices for laughably small orders (e.g., $40 to ship a tiny part to Hawaii). We hope to address this sooner rather than later as we get more granular with our shipping policies and decrease our shipping costs across the board but it's complicated and we're machinists, not logistics experts.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
